A meeting to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Max Delbrück on September 4, 1906.


The meeting will be held at the University of Salamanca, Spain, during two days and will include a special session during the first day for the discussion of the role of Max Delbrück in the birth and development of molecular biology. The meeting will include talks by former colleagues on Max Delbrück's personality and scientific abilities that helped shape modern biology. The second day of the meeting will be devoted to review and update the research carried out with the fungus Phycomyces blakesleeanus, a favourite research organism of Max Delbrück with a complex sensitivity to light and other environmental signals. This session will include talks that will describe the role of Phycomyces as a model organism for sensory physiology.

The meeting is open to all and no registration fees are required to attend the scientific sessions. Those interested in attending the meeting should register by sending an e-mail to vic.investigacion@usal.es with your name and contact details.
